1) How much do you think your understanding of God, of Jesus, and of the Christian faith has been shaped by what you’ve watched, read or listened to (that was not the Bible)? How has the effect of popular media shaped/mis-shaped our cultural understanding of God? What is the effect of that shaping?
2) Take a look at Psalm 34 (the whole thing). What are the promises of God listed in the passage? How do those promises compare with popular message of God in our culture?
3) What are the human responses we are to give to God’s promises in Psalm 34?
4) Praise is an important response to God’s goodness, presence, and active work in His world. What reasons do you have to praise God today?
5) What effect does praising God have on your hope in his promises? How can you work to increase the amount of praise in your day-to-day life?
