This Life Group season runs from September 14-December 14, 2025.
In his book Heaven, Randy Alcorn begins with a chapter titled: Are you looking forward to Heaven? He then cites examples of people who think heaven will be boring, thus they do not want to go there.
- How often do you think most Christians think about heaven and our heavenly hope?
- How much do you think non-Christians think about heaven (or anything after this life)?
- In Philippians 1:21-26, Paul indicates a dilemma: He would rather go to heaven than stay here. What makes Paul believe that it is better to be with God than to remain here?
- Do you share Paul’s dilemma too? What keeps you focused on living and sharing the good news of Jesus in this life right now?
- Paul believes that what God has given us through Jesus Christ is good news. Make a list of scriptures that describe what is so good about Jesus, salvation, and heaven. (Here’s a verse to start your list: 1 Peter 1:3-5).
- Imagine you have a family member or friend who does not know Jesus but has interest. What verse among your list would best express the heavenly hope you have? How does it convey that hope?
