Life Group Questions | May 24, 2026

This Life Group season runs from April 12-May 30, 2026.

We heard testimonies of God’s goodness on Sunday. As a group, these questions are designed to recognize your own salvation and the goodness of God exhibited through freedom in Jesus Christ.

  1. There were two guiding questions provided to those giving testimonies (based on James 4:8a). What is your answer to one or both of these questions:
    1. How has God come near you recently to work in your life?
    2. How have you sought the Lord lately, and what has been God’s response?
  2. During Sunday worship we read a handful of texts (listed below). Which of these speaks most to what God has been doing in your life recently? Why?
  3. Let’s take a deeper dive into the passage from Mark. Read Mark 5:1-20. People feared this man (and the demons inside of him). Why did they fear him?
  4. The story takes a turn when Jesus arrives. Now Jesus is feared by the demons. Why do the demons fear Jesus? What does this teach you about the power of God over sin and darkness?
  5. People could easily see the depths of sin and darkness in this man, it was not hidden. How does sin and darkness sometimes hide in plain sight around us? Why is it crucial to rely on the power of God to free you from subtle and deceitful sin?
  6. In his freedom, this now free man wants to go with Jesus (18-20). What does Jesus tell him to do? Why do you think this is the answer Jesus gives?
  7. How can you share your story of God’s mercy with others this week?

Scriptures from Sunday

Mark 5:20. So the man went away and began to tell in the Decapolis how much Jesus had done for him. And all the people were amazed.

Psalm 71:15–16. My mouth will tell of your righteous deeds, of your saving acts all day long— though I know not how to relate them all. I will come and proclaim your mighty acts, Sovereign Lord; I will proclaim your righteous deeds, yours alone.

Mark 5:18–19. As Jesus was getting into the boat, the man who had been demon-possessed begged to go with him. Jesus did not let him, but said, “Go home to your own people and tell them how much the Lord has done for you, and how he has had mercy on you.”

Psalm 145:4. One generation commends your works to another; they tell of your mighty acts.

Acts 4:33. With great power the apostles continued to testify to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus. And God’s grace was so powerfully at work in them all

Luke 8:39. “Return home and tell how much God has done for you.” So the man went away and told all over town how much Jesus had done for him.
