This Life Group season runs from February 8-March 21, 2025.
- Baptism was the theme this Sunday. If you were teaching a group of first graders about baptism, what would you tell them?
- Read Romans 8:9-17. While this passage is not specifically about baptism, it has images that fit. What images stand out to you?
- When Paul uses “flesh” here he means sinful nature. In verse 5, Paul states that people who live according to the flesh have their minds set on the flesh. Why is it so difficult for people to change a sinful/fleshly mindset?
- Paul provides insight on what the mind set on the Spirit looks and acts like. What does he say?
- The consequences of living by the flesh are outlined in verse 13. Not a good path! What are the most effective means you know of to stop living by the flesh and instead live by the Spirit?
- The final image in this passage is full of meaning (verses 14-17), those led by the Spirit are children of God and heirs. What does it mean to be God’s children? What is your inheritance as heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ?
Baptism Commitments
Here are the five commitments of those being baptized. If you have been baptized, reaffirm these with us on Sunday. If you have not yet been baptized, contact Pastor Evan and start the conversation.
- Do you now desire to be baptized in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit? I do.
- Proclaiming this covenant with Jesus Christ, do you renounce all the powers of evil and declare your opposition to a way of life in contradiction to the gospel? I do.
- Do you repent of your sins, confessing Christ as your Savior and Lord and living as his faithful disciple? I do.
- Will you devote yourself to the apostles’ teaching, to fellowship, to the breaking of bread, and to prayer? I will.
- Empowered by the Holy Spirit, will you do all in your power to participate fully in the life of this congregation, to do justice, to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God? I will.
