Life Group Questions | March 24, 2024

This is the final session until the next Life Group season begins on April 7.

  1. The words “Hosanna” and “Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord” were cheered on Palm Sunday. They come from Psalm 118, a Psalm of victory traditionally read at Passover.
  2. Psalm 118 looks back and reflects on the Exodus from Egypt. Read the whole Psalm. What themes from the Exodus give people reason to give thanks to the Lord?
  3. As you look forward, what portions of he Psalm seem to point to the coming Messiah? Based on the text, what will the Messiah do?
  4. In verse 25, the word “Hosanna” is used, which means “save us.” The “na” at the end is also translated as “success” or “prosperity” depending on the translation. “Na” really still means “save”, which leads to an interesting question: When God intervenes to save us, what does “success” look like?
  5. Take a look at Acts 4:8-12. Peter uses the words of Psalm 118 to point to Jesus. When Peter does this, it is in the wake of some marvelous things that have happened (healing). What marvelous things have you seen God doing recently? How can you praise him for these things?
