Life Group Questions | May 3, 2026

This Life Group season runs from April 12-May 30, 2026.

This Sunday we heard from 1 Corinthians 11:17-34, which describes how the church in Corinth was misusing the Lord’s Supper. The sermon focused our attention on what we are communicating to the next generation about what it means to be like Jesus and to function as his new people.

  1. What was the most meaningful moment in your growing-up years where an adult mentored or taught you something through experience? How does that experience affect your thinking and action today?
  2. In 1 Corinthians 10:17, Paul says that there is one loaf for the church. What does Paul mean here?
  3. What are the implications for how we serve and worship together if we are one loaf?
  4. Raising up the next generation (or generations) is important, however our structures and patterns can sometimes prevent us from truly passing on the faith and life of the church. What are the most important things that the next generation needs from their elder disciples?
  5. In 1 Corinthians 11:28 and 31, Paul indicates that each disciple who approaches the Lord’s Supper should examine their own lives on multiple fronts: Am I sinning against God and do I need to reconcile with another disciple? Is this a pattern you follow? What does it look like to do this in practice?
  6. These self-examination questions are markers of the church that are counter-cultural. How does examining oneself in these ways help the church function as one loaf?
  7. What does self-examination communicate to our children and youth about Jesus and his Church?
  8. We can’t all do the same thing to help the next generation become mature, worshiping disciples, but we can all do something. What is one way that you can (or do) participate to bring the next generation to maturity and participation in the church?
